Documents Required
- An original notarized Power of Attorney (a copy of notarized Power of Attorney is required at the time of filing trademark application, the original one can be submitted within one month from the filing date without any arising fees);
- The applicant’s complete name and address;
- List of goods/services to be covered by the trademark;
- Representation of trademark;
- If priority is claimed, a certified copy of the priority document must be submitted within 1 month from the date of filing. The translation into Khmer may be required on the examiner’s request.
Procedure / Time Frame
Under Cambodia’s current practice, the estimated time frame from the filing of an application to the issuance of Registration Certificate for a smooth trademark application is approximately 16 to 20 months.
Validity / Renewal
A trade mark is valid for 10 years from its date of registration. It may be renewed indefinitely every 10 years. A renewal application shall be filed within 6 months prior to the expiry date of the trade mark. A grace period of 6 months may be granted after the expiry date provided that a surcharge is paid.
Specific Remark
The trademark owner will be obliged to use the trademark in Cambodia. The request for endorsement of Affidavit of Use must be submitted to the D/IPR within one year following the fifth anniversary of the date of registration of the mark, or the date of registration of renewal when the registered mark has been renewed.
The minimum requirements for filing a request for endorsement of affidavit of use/non-use are an original/duplicate mark registration certificate and an original signed affidavit of use/non-use form. Only the original mark certificate/duplicate mark certificate issued by the D/IPR is acceptable. The process for recordal of affidavit of use/non-use takes approximately four to five months to be completed.

Filing Requirement / Documents Required
- Applicant's name and address
- Author's name and address
- Description of the design.
- The country and filing particulars of basic application whose priority is claimed.
- Power of Attorney.
- Representations of the design.
- Classification of the article or articles to which the industrial design is intended to be applied.
- A statement justifying the applicant’s rights to the registration of the industrial design, if the author is not the applicant.
Specific Remark
- A notarized Power of Attorney should be submitted within two months from the filing date.
Procedure / Time Frame
The entire duration for obtaining a design patent will take approximately 12 months as of the official filing date.
Validity / Renewal
The grant fee should be paid within 1 month from issuance of the decision to grant a design patent. A design in Cambodia is valid for 5 years from the filing date and may be renewed for 2 additional periods of 5 years each by payment of a corresponding fee. Renewal fee must be paid within 6 months prior to the validity term expiration. Late renewal is possible within a 6-month grace period on condition of payment of an additional fee.

Documents Required
An industrial design application in Laos should contain the following:
- A formal application form (a request form) defined by DIP;
- Power of Attorney certified by notary public and the name and address of the applicant’s representative in the Lao PDR in case of foreign applicant;
- Deed of Assignment if the applicant is not the inventor, which must be duly signed by related parties and notarized by notary public;
- Drawings, photos, or images that indicate an industrial design clearly in order to demonstrate a feature in all angles of the design (a minimum of 7 different angles);
- Brief description of a product category or a goods related to the industrial design;
- A receipt of official fee and service charges;
- A certified Priority Document (3 months)
- Application filed in Enlgish/Lao (certified traslation to Lao within 90 days)
- Priority 6 months

Validity / Renewal
The period for paying the fee shall begin five (05) years from the filing date of the application for industrial design registration and shall be payable every five (05) years thereafter.
Specific Remark
Multiple design applications are possible in Laos.
